Never allow fear control your life. Given we have one life to live on earth without unlimited do-overs, let’s make it count by thinking beyond ourselves. Our Founding Fathers risked everything to break free from the yoke of Great Britain. What, if anything, are you willing to risk?
“Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s consent. But even the hairs of your head have all been counted. Yesterday the world lost Dolly Parton. Her family said sadness is ours, not hers — that she “lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus.”
That line stays with me because Scripture is honest about both sides of the story:
We each have an appointment with death. After that comes judgment. But Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many — and He will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him.
“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” — Hebrews 9:27–28 (ESV).
Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for the songs, the joy, and the light.
