Christianity is a come as you are religion. Perfection is not an entry requirement, nor is it a condition for salvation. We have redemption through the shed blood of Christ. It doesn’t matter what we did in the past or if we fall short in the future. It is a FREE gift. Receiving the gift of everlasting life requires confession of sins, repentance, and acceptance. It takes humility to become a Christian. One must accept the fact that I can’t, but God can transform my life.
“And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I prayed for today’s scripture and this is what the Lord dropped into my spirit. Maybe we all need this reminder that God has high standards. Christianity is a come as you are religion, but we are expected to allow Christ and the Holy Spirit to change us from the inside out.
“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”
