Good words to remember

Apostle Paul has some good words for us to meditate on today. These are easier said than done, but it encourages us to aim higher.

“Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.
See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil.”

1 Thessalonians 5: 14-22 (NLT).

Do any young women you know aspire to become a Proverbs 31 wife?

“A wife of noble character who can find?

She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.

She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.”

Proverbs 31:10-12 (NIV)

Marriage is a two-way street. I’ve never had a successful one myself, but I’ve known many couples who have. Those who pray together, worship together, and work together toward common goals have a far greater chance of building something that endures.

Young ladies, the Proverbs 31 standard isn’t outdated — it’s countercultural and powerful.

Pray, Pray, Pray!

Here’s a simple prayer that God will hear.

“Be pleased to save me, Lord; come quickly, Lord, to help me.

May all who want to take my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.”

Enjoy Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians. It’s one of my favorites.

“For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people,
I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head ...
