Peace for today and tomorrow

Are you afraid and heavy-hearted? You need not be so. Jesus promises us his peace.

“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.
“And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe.” John 14: 25-29 (NKJV).

Do any young women you know aspire to become a Proverbs 31 wife?

“A wife of noble character who can find?

She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.

She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.”

Proverbs 31:10-12 (NIV)

Marriage is a two-way street. I’ve never had a successful one myself, but I’ve known many couples who have. Those who pray together, worship together, and work together toward common goals have a far greater chance of building something that endures.

Young ladies, the Proverbs 31 standard isn’t outdated — it’s countercultural and powerful.

Pray, Pray, Pray!

Here’s a simple prayer that God will hear.

“Be pleased to save me, Lord; come quickly, Lord, to help me.

May all who want to take my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.”

Enjoy Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians. It’s one of my favorites.

“For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people,
I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head ...
