Greetings 👋
God doesn’t change His standards and expectations to meet our desires. We can learn so much from His dealings with ancient Israel. He is a God who rewards and disciplines nations while giving them clear standards for prosperity.
“Then the Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.”

In 2018, when I was drafted to run for mayor of Nashville, a framed copy of Micah 6:8 hung in my office:
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?”
It still hangs in one of the bedrooms in my home.
True leadership isn’t about status or self-promotion—it’s about justice, mercy, humility, and service before God.

Isaiah 9 isn’t just a Christmas passage—it’s a living word for right now. In a world that feels unstable, this promise still holds:
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”
